27 Sick/Injured + 85 Innocent Physical Contact Kaito/Grimmjow/Hanataro … My brain is so interesting place…
– cherfleur
It starts with Grimmjow following Kaito home after one of their promised spars, both of them bruised and bloody and high on adrenaline.
It starts with Hanataro taking one look at the two of them and shooing both of them towards the healing spring in Urahara’s basement, ignoring Grimmjow’s snapping with admirable ease.
That first time sets the precedent.
Grimmjow starts sticking around after their spars, starts spending more and more time with them and Kaito… Kaito is pretty sure this is something he’s supposed to mind. Grimmjow is – was – their enemy, he is a Hollow, he is dangerous, but…
Kaito is part Hollow. Trusts Shiro with his life.
Kaito is more dangerous than Grimmjow could ever be, can damage people just by letting his strength go free…
Grimmjow, in comparison, is a manageable type of dangerous.
Kaito’s gotten used to cats during his time in the shoten, so he’s absolutely not surprised when Grimmjow starts getting comfortable around them and starts leaning against them. He’s even less surprised when Grimmjow falls asleep in his lap, purr-rumbling away as Kaito absently runs his fingers through Grimmjow’s hair.
He is surprised by how Hanataro takes it all in stride, rolling his eyes whenever Grimmjow flops across his lap, accepting the clinging and the cuddling and the general aloof attention that Grimmjow often pays him with admirable ease.
He is surprised by Grimmjow’s acceptance – grumpy but nonviolent – of Hanataro’s healing. He probably shouldn’t be – Grimmjow can and often is reasonable about things, especially when they let him get back to the fight that much quicker – but seeing Grimmjow flop down with a huff whenever Hanataro offers healing is always a surprise.
And somehow, after all of that, after months of getting closer, he’s really not surprised in the slightest when he wakes one morning to find Hanataro tucked against his chest and Grimmjow draped across their legs like a cat.
(Finding out Grimmjow is ticklish is just the icing on the cake.)
(He’s never letting the man live that down.)
